After Tom Ossum’s impulsive purchase at a questionable used car dealership, his kids Norm and Nora are excited to go on a maiden voyage in their family’s new retro camper van. Little do they know, this is no ordinary van—it once belonged to a genius inventor that mysteriously went missing thirty-five years ago. But before their trip can even begin, their mother, Samantha, gets kidnapped by a massive one-eyed mutant ogre!

With Tom at the helm, the Ossums must chase after the ogre in their new ride, learning along the way that this van is more incredible than they could have ever imagined. Will their new “vantastic” vehicle be enough to help them rescue Samantha from the ogre before he traps her in his lair deep within Demon’s Peak?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My name is Streeter Johnson and I live in Cherokee, IA after recently moving from Boise, ID. My debut book, Vantastic, is an adaptation of a series of bedtime stories I would tell my sons, Henry and Max, while their baby sister Olive was being nursed to sleep in the other room. The original stories always involved our VW Vanagon that would always end up being able to fly, float, etc., saving the boys and I from one sticky situation to the next.

In the summer of 2021 I decided to write the outline of the book and then in the fall, decided trying to write it might be a fun way to connect with my mother, Anne, a retired English teacher. The plan was for me to write a chapter a month and she would help me with editing as well has hold me accountable.  I ended up writing the first draft in six weeks.

When not writing, I love to read to my kids, make music, hang out with friends and family, and spend time outdoors. For my day job I design, screen print, and sell T-shirts along with a few other creative endeavors.
